Sandy Rice has attended Eternity Baptist Church since the 70’s. Sandy believes Jesus is the sinless Son of God who died for her sins, was raised by the power of God on the third day, and will return just as He has said. Sandy is a RN with a degree from Kaskaskia College. She grew up in a musical household and has served as a bass player, vocalist and a Sunday School teacher in the children’s area for over 20 years. She credits much of what she has learned about music from a former Minister of Music, Rob Davis, and from experience. Sandy serves as a Worship Leader because of obedience to God’s call to do so. She considers is a great honor to serve The Lord, the church, and to work with the Sounds of Eternity Praise team every week. 1 Corinthians 1:31 Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in The Lord.”

Qualifications for Church Leaders
3 This saying is trustworthy “If anyone aspires to be an overseer, he desires a noble work.” 2 An overseer, therefore, must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, self-controlled, sensible, respectable, hospitable, an able teacher, 3 not addicted to wine, not a bully but gentle, not quarrelsome, not greedy— 4 one who manages his own household competently, having his children under control with all dignity. 5 (If anyone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he take care of God’s church?) 6 He must not be a new convert, or he might become conceited and fall into the condemnation of the Devil. 7 Furthermore, he must have a good reputation among outsiders, so that he does not fall into disgrace and the Devil’s trap.
8 Deacons, likewise, should be worthy of respect, not hypocritical, not drinking a lot of wine, not greedy for money, 9 holding the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience. 10 And they must also be tested first; if they prove blameless, then they can serve as deacons. 11 Wives, too, must be worthy of respect, not slanderers, self-controlled, faithful in everything. 12 Deacons must be husbands of one wife, managing their children and their own households competently. 13 For those who have served well as deacons acquire a good standing for themselves, and great boldness in the faith that is in Christ Jesus. 1 Timothy 3: 1-13

Eternity Baptist Church Trustees
Eternity Baptist Church is blessed to have an active and caring trustee group.
Charlie Calvin, Steve Turner, Brad Tiemann, Kevin Braddy, Alan Betters and Mike Benjamin serve as trustee. The trustees are voted into office yearly by the church membership. Many of the men serving as trustees have made numerous trips building churches in other states with the Carpenters for Christ. You can read more about The Carpenters for Christ in our missions area of the website.
A trustee position can vary in responsibilities depending on the denomination of the church. There are some churches where the deacon/trustee positions are a dual role. The roles here are separate, but occasionally a man will serve in both positions. Brad Tiemann serves both as trustee and deacon here. This is due to the fact that trustees are servants in their respected roles. The trustees are layman with skills and a love for the church that donate time and talent to keep our facility looking and functioning well. They also help ensure that the building stays compliant with legal and safety codes. They are important to the church. The trustees work with the finance committee to make wise decisions in the spending of the church funds. This is a Biblical concept as we are to be good stewards of the money (1st Peter 4:10).
The early church met in homes (Colossians 4:15, Acts 12:12), in public areas (Acts 5:12), and assembly halls (Acts 19:9). We are blessed to have a wonderful facility provided by God through the faithful giving of His people and maintained by the hard work and dedication of our trustees. The church is the people and the building is where we meet. Under the direction of the trustees is how the facility is maintained.
